FUFA Drum: Bugisu Edge Busoga in Seven Goal Thrilling Eastern Region Derby

Bugisu became the third province to make it to the semi-finals of the 2019 FUFA Drum tournament after a 4-3 victory over rivals Busoga in a thrilling Eastern derby played at the Pece War Memorial Stadium, Gulu on Wednesday.

A brace from Steven Makumba, Mbarara City’s Raymond Onyai, and a penalty by Sports Club Villa striker Ronald Magwali scored the four goals for Bugisu to earn them a deserved win.

For Busoga, Richard Wandyaka scored two goals while Bakali Magunda scored the other on the evening full of action.

Bugisu’s Makumba made it three goals in the competition following his match winner against West Nile on Monday at the new Akii Bua Stadium, Lira.

Makumba was also man of the match, earning Shs 100,000 on the spot and a plaque.

With two wins, Bugisu now has six points and qualifies alongside Lango to the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, at the new Akii Bua Stadium in Lira, hosts Lango lost their first game in the new format of the quarters falling to West Nile.

Maroon’s striking duo of Fred Amaku and Rashid Agau as well as Onduparaka’s Vitalis Tabu scored for West Nile.

Sports Club Villa’s Fahad Badiro netted the consolation for Lango, West Nile forward Tabu was man of the match.
