Campaign launched to involve males in ending domestic violence

TEDDY JANET KABASAMBU

A campaign has been launched today aimed at engaging the males, including young boys, tackling issues to do with gender based violence, alcoholism, drug abuse and HIV/AIDS.

Tadooba hitmaker and HIV/AIDS advocate Moses “Supercharger”, who has been living with the virus for
the last 25 years, said during the presser that “we need more programmes like these to empower
men because they are the foundation of most of all the campaigns that have always been brought up
even though they are always ignored.”

He said men mistreat women mostly because we have been raised seeing this and thinking its culture to discipline them,

The campaign came after realisation that all interventions have always been oriented towards women and left out the males even when they advocate for equality.

Dr.Lydia Mungherera, also living with HIV/AIDS said in most of the campaigns for activism, men have been the missing link and that they needed to be incorporated for more positive results.

She called upon all the males to take part in international men’s day due to take place on December at the Constitutional Square.
