UPL: KCCA FC Strain to Shake Off Police
KCCA FC turned the game around and picked maximum points after a 3-2 hard fought win against Police FC at Startimes Stadium Lugogo on Saturday evening.
The Champions fielded mostly players that do not get to play often given the fact that five players were away on National duty in Katakwi.
The cops drew first blood through forward Ben Ocen in the 17th minute who slotted past Jamil Malyamungu who was making his first start in the league this season.
Four minutes later, Jackson Nunda drew the tie level with a beauty of a finish off the outside of his left boot.
But three minutes later, a lapse in concentration saw KCCA FC conceding again from a well-struck shot from the 18-yard mark by Pius Kagwa past custodian Malyamungu.
At the 70 minute mark, Sekisambu played a good ball to Nunda who drilled it past cops custodian Mutebi to draw the tie level for the second time in the game.
With 12 minutes left, Herbert Achai crossed beautifully in the box to Obenchan who flicked to Sekisambu who nodded home the third for KCCA FC.
In the 86th minute, Sekisambu was fouled in the box and the referee gave a penalty to KCCA FC.
Nunda who was in search for a hat trick stepped up to take it but his kick was stopped by custodian Davis Mutebi in stoppage time.
A win took KCCA to 16 points from eight games in the sixth position on the Uganda Premier League log while Police FC remained 15th with five points.
KCCA’s next game will be a visit to Express FC on Wednesday 13th November in the Startimes Uganda Premier League.
