The Mufti of Uganda, Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubajje, has urged politicians to stop fuelling divisions among the muslims by siding with people who are fond of propagating the gospel of hatred ,disunity
He urged all the leaders right from grassroot to stop politicising Islamic religion and instead spread the word of love among people.
He said the the main role of politicians and other leaders in the community is to make that sure that people are united to ease economic development and wellbeing of the locals.
He made the remarks while officiating the inauguration of the West Nile Muslim regional administration in Arua district.
He revealed that the divisions among Muslims in Arua municipality originates from lack of academic qualifications which are a requirement for one to be a Muslim leader.
He urged the entire Muslim community to concentrate on acquiring the minimum academic qualifications which will help them to take up leadership positions than getting involved in petty fights and conflicts.
Sheik Mahmoud Rayan was sworn in as the regional Khadi of West Nile sub region.
The president’s message that was delivered by the state minister for Investment and Privatization, Evelyn Anite, commended the Uganda Muslims Supreme Council for setting up regional structures as an avenue to ease service delivery.
Museveni also promised to work closely with the new leadership.
