Police Grills Prophet Mbonye for Hours
On Tuesday, self-styled Prophet Elvis Mbonye Mugisha of Zoe Fellowship Ministries (ZFM) was grilled at the Criminal Investigations Directorate in Kibuli for over three hours, chimp corps report.
Mbonye was invited to answer to queries in regard to his online post where he stated that the just concluded countrywide immunisation campaign of children against Measles and Rubella was “Misinformed”
According to Police, Mbonye’s information was misleading and it aimed at de-campaigning the mass government program which is contrary to the Immunisation Act of 2017.
The Act states that “A person shall not make, cause to be made or publish any misleading statement or information regarding the use or effect of any vaccines.”
The statements by Mbonye prompted the deputy director CIID Mr Joseph Obwona to invite him to answer some questions at the directorate headquarters.
He was summoned to the media crimes department where he spent almost four hours but was later released on Police bond until Thursday this week.
Mbonye if found guilty, he will be charged under article 23 and will pay a fine not exceeding forty-eight currency points (about sh960,000) or imprisonment not exceeding two years or both.
In the just concluded campaign, government of Uganda through the ministry of health immunized over eighteen million children under the age of 15 years against Measles and Rubella.
